Colleen Ann Fitzpatrick was born July 20th, 1972, in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Before becoming the pop singer she is known as today, she found her inspiration as a dancer. While in high school, she practiced her love for dance until she began participating in several bands.
With dreams of becoming a performer, she got her true start as an actress. One of her first roles was in the 1988 John Waters comedy Hairspray, as Amber Von Tussle. She next appeared in 1995's Higher Learning and Crinoline Head.
While appearing in front of the camera, she also formed the punk/pop band, Eve's Plum and she was lead vocalist, the band saw the success of two albums, Envy and Cherry Alive.
She left the band in order to pursue her hopes of trying out a solo career, one which has proved to be more successful than that with Eve's Plum. After signing a deal with Elektra in 1998, her self-titled album was released in 1999, and has already spawned the poppy single "Smile". Hoping to brighten up everyone's day with the infectious tune, Vitamin C then chose a more nostalgic theme for "Graduation (Friends Forever)". Being heard at every high schoolers prom cemented the fact that Vitamin C was responsible for one of the year's anthems.
Besides seeing her singles top the charts, many events have served as highlights in her career. She contributed to the soundtrack for the animated feature Pokémon; has been made into a fashion industry fixture with a Tommy Hilfiger lipstick shade (in honor of her orange hair) named after her; and Mattel has made a doll in her image.
While her music career is burgeoning, her acting career is not being neglected. Since her days with Eve's Plum, she has been cast as Lucy in Wes Craven's Dracula 2000 along with Jeri Ryan, and the Kirsten Dunst flick, Get Over It.
