Adrienne Shelly was born in Queens, New York, USA. She appeared in the 2005 film "Factotum" with Matt Dillon and starred in the 1989 film "The Unbelievable Truth" and the 1990 film "Trust." She won a Film Discovery Jury Award for her direction of I'll Take You There (1999) from the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival held annually in Aspen, Colorado, and the Prize of the City of Setúbal - Special Mention for the same film at the Festróia - Tróia International Film Festival held in Setúbal, Portugal. She lived in Manhattan with her 3-year-old daughter, Sophie. After recently writing and directing a film called 'Waitress', she was found dead in her office bathroom by her husband.She was 40 years old.
